Chromium OS is the open-source development version of Chrome OS, which is a Linux distribution designed by Google to work primarily with web applications. The operating system's architecture is three-tiered, consisting of firmware, system-level software (which includes the Linux kernel), and a window manager. Installable, working versions of Chromium OS have been produced and made available for download primarily by hobbyists.
